Car Scratch Repair Cost

Car Scratch Repair Cost – So you found a stain on your car’s paint. Maybe you put it there, maybe someone (or something) did. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but it sure makes your beautiful, shiny toy look a little less magnificent. If you’ve never had to deal with this before, you’re probably wondering, “How much does car paint repair cost?” There are a few factors that influence what this number will be in your specific situation, and I’ll break it down for you!

The first question you need to answer is what type of damage your vehicle has. Below is a list of the most common types of paint damage. Once you’re sure what you’re dealing with, we’ll move on to how much the repair will cost.

Car Scratch Repair Cost

Smaller: Only on the varnish (if it gets wet, it disappears for a moment) and no more than 15 centimeters.

Extensive: Deeper scratches that go beyond the varnish and reach the paint itself, or even the metal. Scratches that span more than 6 inches are also extensive.

Minor: Contained in a relatively small area and only on the surface of the paint (no metal can be seen). Some small scratches can even be transferred from the thing your vehicle rubbed against and can be easily removed with just rubbing compound and a microfiber cloth.

Extensive: Scratches that have deformed the surface of the car itself, covered a larger area, or completely removed the paint are considered extensive.

If there is paint damage on top of a dent, you will want to repair the dent before painting so that the paint is not affected by the dent repair process.

Cost Of Dent Repair

Extensive: Dents on a curved surface require a little more skill to repair. A dent may not be fixable if the metal is completely bent, such as on a bumper that has been crushed.

Once you’ve determined what type of damage you’re dealing with, check out the guide below to see how much it will cost to fix it!

There are very likely to be mobile technicians near you for all the types of car paint damage mentioned above. A mobile technician will be the cheapest option and he will come to you!

For minor paint chip, scratch, and scratch repairs, you’ll pay between $150 and $250 for all the damage they can fix to your vehicle. Refinishing is great for small, superficial chips and scratches. Dent repairs will cost about $75 per panel.

How Much Do You Think It Will Cost To Get This Very Big, Deep Scratch Repaired?

Touch-up repairs won’t necessarily make your car look like new, but they will be significantly cheaper than a body shop and will look much better. They will prevent the damage from getting worse and should last as long as you have the car. For paint repair, look for someone who uses the Dr. Colorchip system! (Read our blog post here about why we only use Dr. Colorchip ink.)

If the damage to your vehicle’s paint covers a large area and is quite deep, you may want to spray it instead of touching it up.

If you have moderate damage to a vertical surface (like a car door), you can use mobile spray painting services. This will cost between $200 and $400 and may be your best option for multi-panel damage.

If your vehicle’s moderate to extensive damage is on a horizontal surface (like the hood), is too much for touch-up or mobile spray painting, or if you just prefer it to look like new, you’ll need a body shop.

Cost To Fix Scratch $10,000…really?

The differentiation between horizontal and vertical surfaces has to do with dust and other particles that settle on the car. It is almost impossible to prevent particles from interfering with a spray painting on horizontal surfaces outside of a controlled environment. That’s why it’s best to take your car to a repair shop with access to a clean, well-ventilated room specifically for this purpose.

A repair shop will charge between $250 and $600 per panel, depending on your location and the repair shop.

My son did this today… on the front driver’s side panel… I have some shop appointments, but I just moved to a new state, so I’m just basing it on reviews.

Does Car Insurance Cover Scratches And Dents?

Any ideas? I had a cell phone guy look at it via text message and he stated he would repaint it, not fix it.

It’s the front fascia above the wheel – not the front bumper area. I was thinking of a big… PITA.

$1,000 might be high, maybe $600-700, but if you need a rental for a few days, figure about $1,000 in total.

Look in this post for some options, they won’t be good as a total repaint, but you may mess up some.

How Much Does Car Scratch Repair Cost Nowadays?

It’s about $500 per panel to paint or mix. I paid about $2k for the front fender scratch with the fender itself done at one of the best shops around

I had deep scratches, plus the 2s have steel fenders which are harder to repair than aluminum ones, so they ended up replacing them. Then I was told I MUST mix the hood and door panel

I went to about 5 workshops and they all told me to mix it because even the non-faded paint doesn’t match, since it’s not the same batch as the original. One store even refused to do it, saying they didn’t have the special paint that BMW uses.

The local Maaco was the only one who tried without mixing, but it didn’t guarantee anything. They quoted around $600-700

They are independently owned stores, one next to my house had good reviews and also seemed honest. I almost gave my car to them when another small shop that refused to do so told me to only take it to high quality shops.

I don’t understand what makes this so complicated? Wouldn’t it basically be sand, paint, mixture? Isn’t the trickiest part getting the colors to match?

I’m asking because it’s just a scratch.. If there was damage to the body, I would be more concerned…. but it’s just paint.

Scratches or minor bodily damage, it doesn’t matter. I think the color combination depends on the skill and paint used. I was told that small shops use Dupont paint, while high-end shops use OEM Glasurit. I’m not a professional, so I think you can also mix Dupont to match the colors. All I know is it’s going to look shit if the paint doesn’t match

Everyone told me that Metallic/Mineral Gray is a shitty combination, so I didn’t want to risk it. I’m happy with my final result, it looks better than before)) previous small scratches are gone

Sal. My wife’s Honda was in an accident, I took it to an authorized workshop, like 4 years later the painted door started to rust. So you never know… at least they fixed it under warranty

I had a similar deep scratch on the driver’s door of the X3. It cost me $800 and it looked great. I had to mix it up. Don’t take it to Maaco.

Hahaha… yes… I did that to my dad’s 72 year old vette when I was a kid… so it’s just karma. I can’t be that mad.
